A day in the countryside

On Thursday 28th of April, class 3/4 R went on a school trip to Ulley country park. We went pond dipping and there were lots of gross insects that were tiny. We also had a nature trail and the answers were all over the countryside.

Gingerbread Men

This week we have made gingerbread men. Luckily, none jumped out of the oven and ran away!!!                 

PE with Mr Green

On Wednesdays and Thursdays we have PE with Mr Green. We are working hard trying to improve our ball skills.  

Fair Trading

Fair Trading, is what our new focus is about in PSHE. We have been learning about what they do to help, who they help and how they help. You might see this logo: On certain food products in your local supermarket.

Where there is light; there will always be shadows!

This week we have been taking pictures of items outside and editing them. We took an interesting picture and then changed the lighting, exposure, shadow and contrast. This made the pictures darker or lighter. Here are a few of the pictures – the blossom tree was a popular topic.

Visit to Kingfield Synagogue and St Andrew’s Church

As part of learning about special places in RE, we visited Kingfield Synagogue and St Andrew’s  Church in Sheffield. Whilst we were there we looked at the different features and discussed their importance within Judaism and Christianity. We found out lots of interesting facts!  

Phonics

We have been using our phonic skills in lots of ways this week. Some children have been using the iPads. In the garden, we have blending words on balls and sorting them into buckets – are the words real or rubbish??      

Chocolate Buns

On Friday we baked chocolate buns. They were delicious!

The Great Escape!!

The cleaners had a shock when they went into Foundation Stage on Friday morning. They were greeted by our 5 chicks strutting around the Foundation Unit!!
