Class 5/6D

Class 5/6D

Welcome to our Class 5/6D Page!

Mrs Dobson

Hello and welcome to year 5/6!

Our topic this term is, “What are fantastic beasts and where might we find them?” which is themed around the book and film of the same name. Children will be learning about interesting and unique animals and places on earth. They will also be creating their own fantastic beasts and using their scientific knowledge to ensure their beast can withstand and survive their chosen habitat. We will use ICT to publish our own pages of a ‘beasty-pedia’ style book.

The school day starts at 8:50am with the classroom doors opening at 8:45am. Registration is at 9:00am and learning starts immediately after. The school day ends at 3:05pm and children will need to be collected by an adult from the classroom door.

In year 5 and 6, children are allowed to leave the classroom without an adult. If you would like your child to be able to leave the classroom without an adult you will need to fill in a form and return it to school. Forms are available from the office or from the classroom.

If you would like your child to be collected from school by someone other than yourself then a form will need to be filled in to advise school who your child/children can leave with. Forms are available from the office or from the classroom.

Waterbottles should be brought into school on Monday and then will be sent home on Friday. Reading books and reading journals will be sent home daily, and it would be beneficial if children read at least 3 times at home during each week. Reading diaries should be kept up to date by children and then signed by an adult.

Spellings will be tested and new spellings given out on a Friday. Homework will also be given on a Friday and is due back into school the following Wednesday.

Our PE day is Thursday and children will require appropriate indoor/outdoor PE kit according to our PE policy.
