Locked up!!!

In class, we have been learning about Victorian Prisons. In Victorian prisons, you had to either turn the crank or pick thread from rope as a job or punishment however, this was better than sleeping on the streets. The main course of a meal would be meat without bone or a pint of oatmeal. There were metal beds to sleep on instead of sleeping on the floor. Also, if the prisoners didn’t  put enough effort in, they would get whipped or birched.

To better understand the jobs that prisoners did, we went into the hall and re-created some of the jobs but without the punishments. It was lots of fun and we really enjoyed it but we found it very hard to do in silence and only managed a minute!
