Welcome
to Sycamore (Year 5/6)

Mr Lowry
Meet your teacher
Hi, I’m Mr Lowry and I’ll be your Year 5/6 teacher for the upcoming school year.
As a teacher, I love making learning fun and relatable and I enjoy linking all learning to the wider world that we live in in order to give children the opportunity to better understand the environment and world around them.
I enjoy teaching a whole range of subjects: Geography, Science, Maths and Literacy and seeing how these can interlink.
We have some incredibly exciting topics to look foward to this year from WW2 in History to light and sound in Science. Not only that, many of you will be embarking on your first ever residential, which will be packed with fun, laughter and adventure.
As some of you may already know, I’m a massive Rotherham United fan and like to spend my weekends following them up and down the country. When I’m not watching football, I like to go walking with my dog and spend time with my friends and family. I’m a huge food enthusiast and I like to eat and cook different dishes!
I’m really looking forward to the year ahead – we will have a fantastic year together!
Meet your Teaching Assistant

Mrs Mitchell
Hi, I’m Mrs. Mitchell! I’m passionate about creating a classroom environment where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to learn. I have a particular love for literacy and all things SPaG (spelling, punctuation, and grammar)—there’s nothing better than seeing children grow in confidence as they develop their reading and writing skills.
Outside the classroom, I love spending time in nature. Camping is one of my favourite pastimes—there’s something magical about sitting by a campfire under the stars! I’m also a big fan of arts and crafts. Whether it’s a hands-on project or a colourful display, I believe artistic expression helps children thrive.
I always make time to listen, whether a child needs help with their learning or just wants to share something special. Building strong, positive relationships with my students and their families is at the heart of everything I do.
I’m excited to continue learning and growing alongside my students each day!

Mrs Thompson
Hi! I’m Mrs Thomson – but most people just call me Mrs T! I’m so lucky to spend my days working with amazing students and being part of their learning journey. I absolutely love art and maths – there’s something magical about numbers and creativity coming together in the classroom. You’ll often find me singing songs on the yard and I never pass up a good joke – whether it’s clever, cheesy, or downright silly!
More than anything, I believe school should be a place where everyone feels safe, supported and seen. My door is always open for a chat – whether you need help with your work, want to share a laugh, or just need someone to listen. I’m here for you, both emotionally and mentally.
Let’s make learning fun, colourful and full of kindness – together!

Miss Barker
Hello! I’m Miss Barker, I’m your year 6 TA! This is my fourth year as a TA at Whitehill.
I have a deep love for reading and maths and I strive to inspire our students to develop a lifelong curiosity for learning and problem-solving. Whether it’s diving into a great book or solving a tricky math puzzle, I’m here to support and enjoy it all with you.
Outside of school, I love to spend time with my two daughters, especially when we’re gathered around the table for a fun and hilarious game’s night. We love a little friendly competition!
I am so excited to share this journey with you and I look forward to a year filled with discovery, growth and lots of smiles
