Welcome
to Blossom Class (Year 1)

Miss Barnes
Meet your teachers
My name is Miss Barnes and I’m so excited to be your Year One teacher this September. I’ve worked in education for over 8 years, and I truly believe that children learn best when lessons are fun, engaging, and hands-on.
One of my favourite parts of the school day is sharing stories with the class. I love bringing books to life through actions and drama—so get ready to jump into the stories with me!
I find it especially rewarding to teach phonics and help children become confident readers and writers. It’s amazing to watch your skills grow throughout the year.
When I’m not in school, I’m at home with my family and our puppy. We enjoy long walks in the Peak District and love spending rainy afternoons baking and crafting together.
I can’t wait to meet you all and start our exciting adventure in Year One. We’re going to have a fantastic year full of learning, laughter, and new experiences!
Meet your Teaching Assistant

Miss Cammock
Hi Year Ones! My name is Miss Cammock. I’m looking forward to meeting you all and starting my new adventure at Whitehill with you. I’ve been working in education for about 25 years now. I’m very excited to learn lots of new things with you this year. I love phonics! I like learning new sounds together and helping you to use these in our reading and writing. I also enjoy maths and solving number problems. I enjoy reading lots of books. My favourite author is Julia Donaldson so I can’t wait to share some of her stories with you. When I’m not at school, I like to spend time in my garden, taking my dog Cole for walks or going to the seaside. I’m excited to see you in September and find out all about what you’ve been doing over the holidays before we spend the year together, learning lots of new things and sharing adventures. I’m looking forward to seeing you soon!
