In the final week of Literacy, Mrs. Ross’ group traded in pencils for pizza dough as they took part in a hands-on learning experience!
As part of their unit on instructional writing, students began by researching how to make the perfect pizza. They explored different methods, ingredients, and toppings before carefully writing their own step-by-step instructions – thinking carefully about clear sequencing, language, and structure.
Once their writing was complete, it was time to put their plans into action! Aprons on and ingredients at the ready, students rolled up their sleeves and made their very own pizzas from scratch. But the learning didn’t stop there. After enjoying their culinary creations, the class also took responsibility for cleaning up, showing great teamwork and independence throughout.
Well done, everyone!
