Weekly Update W/C 9th November 2020

It’s been a very exciting and challenging week for all our students who have been learning about a lot of things from the meaning of Remembrance Day to what Diwali is all about.

Let’s take a look at what each class has been up to!

Foundation Stage:

The children in F1 painted some beautiful poppies to show their respect for Remembrance Day.

Children in F2 have been very busy learning about Diwali, they have created some diva lamps and used their 2D shape knowledge to create rangoli patterns

FS1 and FS2 celebrated bonfire night!

F2 have loved wearing non uniform and learning about Children in Need!

Year 1:

Children in KS1 have been learning about farms and today they finished making their scarecrow!
The children in 1LH have enjoyed designing an outfit for Pudsey!
Year 2:
Y2P have had a lovely day – Happy Children in Need!
Year 3/4:
Science was so much fun this week! 3/4S discussed why objects float and sink and then created their own boats out of plasticine. They moulded and shaped their boats to see which boat would float the best and hold the most objects.
In Mrs Hanson’s SFA group we made a word bank collecting lots of imaginative vocabulary to describe bonfire night. Some of us learnt how to use a thesaurus to help us.

We had a fabulous lesson learning how to weave just as the Vikings did. They used images of the ocean and a Viking longship to make their own design. Well done everyone!

A great morning in Mrs Hanson’s SFA group researching and creating a timeline on Edith Cavell. She is our significant person from WWI and we used this information to write her biography this week. 3/4S were placed into two teams and took part in a debate about Edith Cavell’s actions. It was a very interesting afternoon!

What a great week, well done everyone!
