Year 5/6 Learn About African Music

Year 5/6 have been learning all about African music this half term. They have learned to sing the traditional folk song Shosholoza and this week, we have focused on playing the accompanying chords on the glockenspiels.
Community Superstar!

We are so proud of this little superstar who has been helping in the community by litter picking. He has earned himself a pledge for Active Citizenship. Mrs Oxborough has been to present him with a special Headteacher’s award. Well done!
Year 6 Explore Negative Numbers

Mrs Dobson’s Maths group have been learning about negative numbers today. Some great outdoor team work!
Year 5/6 Investigate Force

Year 5/6 are learning about forces in Science this term. Last week they created and tested their own lever system. They discussed how their mechanism helped to create a greater force with less effort.
MFL Lessons with Year 4

Year 4 children enjoyed their MFL lesson last week. They revised ‘classroom instructions’ previously learnt, along with new vocabulary, for example: Sautez ( jump), dansez ( dance) and marchez(walk). The children finished their lesson with a game of ‘Jacque a dit’ ( Simon says).

Y5/6 Artist Study

Year 5/6 are studying their first artist of the year ‘Caroline Appleyard’. Caroline’s work is fun, colourful and naïve. She visits new places to paint, in particular Whitby. This lesson, the children sketched out parts of Whitby Landmarks ready to put together for their final piece.
Elm Class Practice Place Value

Great start to Y4 maths this morning with some work on the place value in four digit numbers using our number arrows. Well done everyone. Mrs Hanson was very impressed!
Marty Robots with Birch Class

Y5/6 Birch have had an amazing time thanks to AMRC learning to code the Marty robots and become a robotics engineer.
