Meet your teachers

Hi, I’m Mrs Hanson and I will be your Y3 teacher next year. I teach on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I have been teaching for almost 20 years and am really excited about meeting and getting to know you all. I am a passionate and enthusiastic teacher who loves seeing children feel excited about their learning. I have a love of reading and being creative – I enjoy the adventure and surprise endings stories can offer. It is great to see children’s ideas ignite from a book they have read. Outside the classroom, I love following and supporting my favourite football team. I love being part of the crowd and having shared and memorable experiences with my friends and family. Another pleasure of mine is being outdoors. Every step outdoors feels like a mini adventure whether exploring new trails, watching a sunset or listening to the sea. I aim to create a classroom where children feel brave enough to take risks, confident enough to always take part and enjoy all the wonderful learning we do.

Hi, I’m Mrs Cobb and I look forward to teaching you on a Thursday and Friday.
I am a creative and passionate teacher who loves bringing learning to life! I’m especially enthusiastic about teaching literacy – I love how stories allow us to explore magical worlds, step into the shoes of unforgettable characters, and let our imaginations soar.
Creativity is at the heart of my teaching. I enjoy bringing art, colour, and curiosity into every subject; helping children engage with learning in meaningful and exciting ways. I look forward to bringing our history topics, including the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, to life. I’m also eager to take children on virtual journeys around the world as we explore our engaging geography topics.
I encourage big questions, risk-taking, and problem-solving. It’s okay not to know the answer right away – that’s part of the adventure! I look forward to meeting all the children who are ready to start their Y3/4 adventure too.

Meet your Teaching Assistants

Miss Milnes

My name is Miss Milnes, and I started at Brinsworth Whitehill Primary School in November 2024. In my previous employment, I worked in Foundation Stage and have over 15 years’ experience. Over the years, I have gained a vast knowledge and experience of working with children. I love adapting my skills that I have learned as I now currently work with Y3 and Y4 children. I really like identifying interesting ways to motivate and engage children to understand and build their knowledge. I particularly enjoy maths. I also enjoy developing children’s communication skills and recognise the importance this has on children achieving in all areas of the curriculum and reaching their potential. Outside the classroom, I have two young daughters and love spending time with them. I also have a cocker spaniel dog which keeps me busy as he loves to walk and explore. When I do get any spare time, I love to go to the gym. I enjoy meeting new people both students and parents and look forward to meeting you.

Miss Lancaster

Hello, my name is Miss Lancaster, and I will be your year 3 teaching assistant. I am fairly new to Brinsworth Whitehill, but I have been working with children for over 6 years. My favourite thing about working with children is seeing them progress and achieving all of their targets, whether they are big or small. One of my favourite subjects is maths, as I love seeing the expression on children’s faces when they finally work out the answer. Outside the classroom, I love spending time with my little family. I have a little boy who I love to explore with and make lots of amazing memories. I can’t wait to meet you all in September and hear about all of the amazing things you have got up to in the summer holidays.

Mrs Shaw

Hello everyone, my name is Mrs Shaw and I’m very excited to be joining the team here at Whitehill as a new member of staff — especially as this is the very school I attended as a child! My favourite subject is History because I love learning about significant people and fascinating events from the past. I also really enjoy reading and discovering new stories and ideas. Outside of the classroom I love spending time with my family, going on adventure walks and camping. I’m really looking forward to working with Year 3/4 and being part of your learning journey. I can’t wait to get started and share lots of fun and learning with you all!
