Y5/6 STEM Workshop

Yesterday, our Year 5 and 6 pupils had a fantastic time at the STEM workshop! The session introduced them to key concepts in electricity, renewable energy, engineering, and maths, helping them see how these subjects link together in the real world.

Working in small teams, the children explored how electricity powers movement and discussed the importance of renewable energy for a sustainable future, connecting directly with the Wickersley Partnership Trust Sustainability Promise. This promise encourages students to understand and engage with sustainable practices, equipping them with knowledge and skills to make environmentally responsible choices in their daily lives.

The pupils then had the exciting opportunity to design, build, and race their very own mini electric cars, applying what they had learned in a practical and hands-on way. They tested their creations, made improvements, and cheered each other on during the final races, demonstrating fantastic teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving skills.

It was brilliant to see students so engaged in science and sustainability, exploring how technology and renewable energy can shape the future. Well done to everyone who took part!
